Folder Sizes & Dimensions

Folders come in a wide range of sizes, and many of them are specially designed to hold a very particular type of document or object. A letter-size folder won’t do you much good if you’re presenting legal-size documents. To avoid embarrassing mishaps, make sure you select a folder that is properly sized to hold the materials you plan to put inside.

Standard Pocket Folder Sizes & Dimensions

Most common folder dimensions, designed to hold letter-size materials.

9 1/2” x 14 1/2” Folders (16)

Legal-size folders, popular for contracts and other legal documents.

6” x 9” Folders (12)

Suitable for “half size” documents, such as a folded sheet of letter-size paper.

Thin dimensions, good for holding receipts or gift certificates.

Important Things to Know

Avoid wasting money on a folder that won’t meet your needs. Here are some things you should be aware of before you decide on a particular folder size.

Folder Size vs. Paper Size

Folders are slightly larger than the paper they are intended to hold. For example, folders meant to hold letter size 8 1/2” x 11” paper are typically close to 9” x 12”. Exact measurements will vary depending on the product you choose.

Be Unique to Stand Out

Standard sizes will get the job done, but consider going slightly outside the norm if you want your materials to stand out in a crowd. A folder that is closer to 10” x 12”, for instance, will be more noticeable in a stack of 9” x 12” materials.

Folder Capacity

A folder with large dimensions is still limited in the quantity of materials it can hold. If you need to present a lot of materials at once, you may want to choose a folder with an expandable or box pocket.

Closed vs. Open Dimensions

The dimensions of a closed folder aren’t the only indicator of how much design space you have to work with. Remember that there’s a different set of dimensions when the folder is open. This is especially important when dealing with tri-panel folders, which offer extra design space but remain the same size as a two-panel folder when closed.

This presentation folder is the perfect choice when presenting your marketing material and/or sales information to your customers. Our custom presentation folders are manufactured using only the highest quality standards and they are a great way to present your company as organized and professional.

9x12 Presentation Folder Options:

COLORS: We only print offset using State-of-the-Art printing presses. Here is the difference between 4/0 (Color 1 Side) and 4/4 (Color 2 Sides):

4/0 - Color 1 Side allows you to print the front and back cover as well as the pockets! With this option you can print in full color with full bleeds. Watch this video to see what a 9x12" presentation folder printed 4/0 looks like:

• 4/4 - Color 2 Sides has the same options as 4/0 but gives you the ability to print on the inside as well.

DESIGN: If you already have your folder designed you can simply upload your file when you are checking out. If you don't have a design yet, you can choose from these 3 main design options:

STOCK OPTION 12PT C2s VS 14PT C2s:

12pt C2s - 12pt refers to the stock's thickness and is the industry standard for presentation folders. We only offer C2s! C2s indicates that it is coated 2 sides (We do not offer C1s as it a step down in density and durability). Our 12pt C2s is a premium stock and is a great choice for presentation folders!

14pt C2s - When you need a thicker option with even more durability, then 14pt C2s is the perfect choice. It has the same premium properties as our 12pt but it's even thicker.

COATING OPTION GLOSS VS MATTE :

Gloss is a most popular option and is a great choice for any folder.

Matte is a great option as well. It has increased popularity recently and is the first choice for many designers. It is a flat finish without the glossy look.
