This should be clear, specific, and without over-adjectivizing. The reason behind these requirements is that a job title is what the employee will refer to themself as, that being in-company or in other contexts such as legal paperwork required by financial institutions, business meetings, etc.

For example: “Jr. Software Developer,” “Financial Admin Assistant,” and “Sales Support Specialist.”

The employee’s salary shall naturally rise over time, which renders the initial value useless. Also, it can spike some jealousy between coworkers, so it’s best to discuss salary as a part of the initial interviews with a prospective candidate.

How to Write a Job Description Template

The process of writing a job description format is not complex, although it can be time-demanding. Let’s go step-by-step.

Step 1 – Job Title

Start your job description document by clearly stating a job title for the position. Since job titles also serve as keywords for job research, avoid these common mistakes:

  • Explaining hierarchy in confusing terms. I.e., “Tier IV Software Architect.” Opt for well-known hierarchy terms such as Entry, Trainee, Junior, Semi-Senior, Senior, Lead, Manager, etc.
  • Watch out for typos or grammar mistakes.

Shape the title to meet the main keyword relevant to the job search. For example, instead of “Architect in Software Solutions,” go for “Software Solutions Architect.”

Step 2 – Job Summary

This is the summary of the job proposal. It has to be clear, specific and mainly expose the points that identify a successful candidate to fill the position. Aim, on this point, to highlight the desired soft skills such as:

  • Team-player
  • Attentive to details

Consulting Support Services – Data Visualization Specialist (Staff)

The opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and talented visualization specialist to work closely with our client serving teams. You'll be responsible for producing visually compelling content for marketing activities that aligns with our client’s brand identities while pushing your creative boundaries. This role requires an adeptness in transforming ideas starting from storyline to a fully impactful output across a range of media.

Your key role and responsibilities 

  • Design innovative visual concepts from inception to execution, ensuring they meet client objectives and connect with target audiences.
  • Provide coaching and guidance regarding recommended changes in content, style and organization.
  • Form a close working relationship with the Engagement Manger, competency and account teams ensuring a daily commitment to delivering document perfection.
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, with the ability to enhance presentations through skilful use of Data visualizations, animations and transitions.
  • Upholding the integrity of the EY or external brands by vigilantly applying provided style guides.
  • Extrapolate data from Excel spreadsheets, based on the target audience create relevant graphs to showcase the analysis.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A strong sense of initiative and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Prior experience of 2+ years in creative and content designing, preferably working on drafting responses on RFPs/RFIs
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other supporting adobe applications.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to clients and team members.
  • A keen eye for aesthetics, layout with attention to detail.
  • Extensive experience with creative software especially Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with animation and creating storyboard marketing videos are valued skills.
  • Adaptable to learn and upskill based on evolving business needs including competencies or process.
  • Confident to deal with senior level stakeholders, internally and externally
  • Any Graduate, Degree/Masters in Design, Fine Arts, Other fields
  • Exposure with building complex Murals, Miro and Visio flow is good to have.
  • SharePoint and site creation with basic understanding of user interface (UX) principles.
