I'm pretty sure the only way to get the Problem Solver is to choose the correct dialogue options and then pass the speech check with Mason. I don't think he will drop the gun if you kill him. The Splattercannon is a quest reward from Mason,but you have to pass a speech check. That's the only way to get that gun..the Problem Solving lover is basically the same gun and can be purchased from the weapon vendor in the market. This is somewhat incorrect. The only way to get the Splattercannon is buying one, as stated in my answer.

You have to do all of the asshole answers (the ones on the right). Though the upside of that is that the furious legendary ability i normally only for melee and unarmed weapons. That being said, automatic is better. More bullets = more hits = more damage. Though as long as you keep hitting the target again with 10 seconds, you still get the effect. Automatics just get it faster.
